Note: You have selected a substitute pet.
The strategy might fail if you use it with this pet instead of the one the strategy creator intended.

The substitute finder looks for these criteria in relation to the original pet:
  • Same family
  • Has the required skills
  • Has the required stats (if specified)
  • Ignores specific breed requirements for the main pet, as breeds can be very different for substitutes

Low XP
Breed
At least one of the pets for this strategy require the use of a specific breed.
Not every strategy can be bullet proof. This is one of them. You might have to restart it, since there are some random elements that increase the risk of your pets failing. Don't blame them, please!
This strategy is using pets obtainable from the Wow Trading Card Game (TCG) or the auction house for potentially high sums of gold.
This strategy is using pets obtainable only from the WoW In-Game Shop for Battle.net Balance or real money.
You can use this strategy to carry a low level pet to give it experience.
Some instructions are more difficult to follow than others. That's exactly what you might find in this strategy!
Script
The strategy offers a Script that can be used with the Pet Battle Script addon. You can copy the script by clicking on the button to the left of the pets.
At least one pet in the strategy cannot be obtained anymore. If you have it, congrats!
A Strategy Curator found this strategy to be especially helpful and higlighted it with this tag to give it more exposure.

done this with : Sprite Darter Hatchling ( 2-1-1 ) + Golden Dragonhawk Hatchling ( 1-1-x ) + Azure Whelpling ( 1-x-1 ), here is the steps :

1- Evanescence
2- Moonfire
3- 3x Arcane Blast
4- Evanescence
5- Moonfire
6- Arcane Blast, your Sprite Darter Hatchling will die.
Bring in your Golden Dragonhawk Hatchling
7- Claw, your Golden Dragonhawk Hatchling will die.
your Azure Whelpling will come in
8- 2x Claw
9- Surge of Power

Done ...

Emmigosa (2,2,1) , Nexus Whelpling P/P (not sure if it matters) (-,2,2) , Chrominius (-,1,2)
1.Wild Magic - Emmi dies
2.Arcane storm
3.Mana Surge
4.Pass (Nexus whelp dies)
5.Howl
6.Surge of Power - Bloat should be down

Sadly, doesn't seem to work in 8.0 for whatever reason. Bloat has too much health when he comes in, and Chrominius can't seal the deal.

Liax

I just did it with Surge of Power doing about 150 in overkill.
You must have made a mistake somewhere, cause it works 100% as long as he does not get crits

Bloat dragonkin family

My phoenix Hawk Hatchling was too slow…. I switched it for The Soul of the Aspect (BB) 2-2-1, the Golden Dragonhawk Hatchling (SS) 1-1-1 and a Stormborne Whelpling (PS) 1-2-2

Rotation… Soul of the Aspects: Deflection, Surge of Light, Breath x2 Deflection, Surge of Light pass and die. Bring in Golden Dragonhawk Hatchling: Rake, Claw, and die. Bring in Stormborne Whelpling: Arcane Storm, Mana Surge, Win!

I tried this several times without fail

Great strat, works with an Azure Whelpling instead of Emmigosa if you happen to have that leveled instead of her (like me), but because mine was P/P and wasnt quicker than Bloat, I skipped breath and just used arcane storm and surge of power. Thanks!

MichaelJ

wrote on 2017-12-26 14:03:50

There is a bit of RNG to this strategy. Your Emmigosa can take a crit and die before Turn 3. In that case you loose the game and have to restart.
The bread of my team was:
Bronze Whelpling (S/S)
Nexus Whelpling (P/S)

Ellemir wrote on 2017-09-17 03:25:28

With an H/B Phoenix Hawk Hatchling, this is impossible.

Hermy

wrote on 2017-11-21 11:08:49

Same with the S/B breed. It's not faster than Bloat.

Posh wrote on 2017-10-01 05:45:12

SS Wild Crimson Hatchling, 121

These two pets spanked Bloat.... Start with liftoff, Breath Breath Scorch breath till dead, Phoenix Claw till 1 round before Bloat's big ability, then Liftoff, claw the rest... win

I used 2 S/S Wild Crimson Hatchlings (121) and only used Breath after Lift-Off while Bloat's Nuke was on CD...Scorch put my second pet at a disadvantage in health...didn't even need 3rd pet

Squish wrote on 2017-08-29 19:50:58

The Phoenix Hawk Hatchling must also be S/S breed.

Zalid

wrote on 2017-10-29 16:45:31

Agreed. Needs speed above 291. My S/B was useless as it gets one-shot at start due to speed of 289. How this info has not been added after all this time is beyond belief tbh.

Felbewb wrote on 2017-09-08 12:00:25

I did this first try using Emmigosa(221), Yu'la(121) and Emerald Proto-whelp(221). Surge of power from Emmigosa, dies, Yu'la damaged him with breath and used lift-off when Bloat finished recharging and also put up celestial blessing before he died. Emerald proto dodged his cannon with lift-off then breathed him to death as he was recharging :)
Not sure if this works every time but worth a try!

Grommet wrote on 2017-09-09 13:42:41

I can conform that this works. I even messed up on Yu'la, cause he died before I could put down Celestial Blessing. But even without it, Emerald Proto-whelp finished the fight!

noctus wrote on 2017-09-09 14:14:15

HAHAH. breath is 1, not 2, yet even with bite this worked perfectly!
order i had:
r1: surge
r2 + 3: breath
r4 + 5: lift off
r6: blessing
r7 + 8: bite/breath (r7 might be yula. depends on how hard yula was hit last round)
r9 + 10: lift off
r11 + bite/breath

Eekwibble wrote on 2017-09-15 07:08:34

Noctus' rounds are slightly out. EPW needs to use Proto-Strike on round 8 to avoid the Cannon on 9.
I'm writing it out assuming EPW is using Breath instead of Bite - it doesn't matter which you use, it's just cleaner to write.

Round 1. Surge of Power
Emmigosa dies
Bring in Yu'la
2&3. Breath
4&5. Lift-Off
6. Celestial Blessing. (If Yu'la dies here; bring in EPW)
7. Breath. (If Yu'la dies here; bring in EPW)
8&9. Proto-Strike
10+. Breath until Bloat dies

Works with any breed of EPW

Variation on Felbewb's strategy because I lacked a leveled Emmigosa.

Sprite Darter Hatchling 2/1/1, Yu'la 1/2/1, Emerald Proto-Drake 2/2/1.

(My Emerald Proto-Drake was P/P, but it doesn't really matter.)

Evanescence to dodge the Antaen Cannon, Moonfire, Arcane Blast 2x, Evanescence, Arcane Blast, Moonfire. Sprite Darter Hatchling dies, bring in Yu'la.
Lift-off to dodge the Antaen Cannon, Breath until Yu'la dies.
Emerald Bite for the kill.

Quaalude wrote on 2017-09-16 07:06:43

Tried the above tactic but the rotation seems wrong. On the Sprite, after using Evanescence, Moonfire and Arcane Blast twice, you're stuck with 1 round CD left on Evanescence. I managed to squeeze in another Moonfire and Arcane Blast and the Sprite died. Brought in Yu'la and immediately Lift Off to dodge the cannon. Then Breath to finish off Bloat and leave Yu'la with a sliver of health. Maybe RNG gods were in my favor, but with EPW in third slot I would have finished him anyhow.

Clewara wrote on 2017-09-01 02:22:29

My Phoenix Hawk Hatchling wasn't a s/s ninja, and farming Al'ar is hard, so here is my answer, which doesn't need that (getting all four celestials is persistence more than luck):

Wild Crimson Hatchling (1-2-1) (only comes s/s)
Yu'la, Broodling of Yu'lon (1-2-1) (only comes p/s but she's got it where it counts, kid)
Golden Dragonhawk Hatchling (1-2-x) (s/s, also comes b/b but it's a vendor pet from Eversong Woods, so roll a belf newbie if you haven't any Horde alts)

All three are faster than Bloat, and this seems a solid, dependable strat.

Wild Crimson:
Lift-Off (to dodge that Fel Ion Cannon)
Scorched Earth
Breath until dead

Yu'la:
Breath
Celestial Blessing (and dies)

Golden Dragonhawk:
Rake (Antaen Cannon rolls through for 700 due to stacking mitigations, hahaha)
Claw * 2 and done

ZY wrote on 2017-09-01 06:38:12

Golden Dragonhawk Hatchling (1-2-x) >> rake is 1, so should be (1-1-x)

Valpet wrote on 2017-09-02 15:06:52

Even with Celestial Blessing, my B/B Golden Dragonhawk consistently takes a 1,400 hit from Antean Cannon, and the ticking damage from Scorched Earth kills me even though Bloat goes down. Might have to try and find an S/S for this to work?

Elesack wrote on 2017-09-07 02:03:31
