Low XP
At least one of the pets for this strategy require the use of a specific breed.
Not every strategy can be bullet proof. This is one of them. You might have to restart it, since there are some random elements that increase the risk of your pets failing. Don't blame them, please!
This strategy is using pets obtainable from the Wow Trading Card Game (TCG) or the auction house for potentially high sums of gold.
This strategy is using pets obtainable only from the WoW In-Game Shop for Battle.net Balance or real money.
Level 1+
You can use this strategy to carry a low level pet to give it experience.
Some instructions are more difficult to follow than others. That's exactly what you might find in this strategy!
Script
The strategy offers a Script that can be used with the Pet Battle Script addon. You can copy the script by clicking on the button to the left of the pets.
At least one pet in the strategy cannot be obtained anymore. If you have it, congrats!
A Strategy Curator found this strategy to be especially helpful and higlighted it with this tag to give it more exposure.
In Dragonflight Patch 10.2, the ability Time Bomb has been changed. This tag is marking strategies using Time Bomb so they can be reviewed.

WoW 9.2.0 (no script) Still works fine. Low xp but with Safari Hat my level 1 ended at level 6. It is not bonus pet battle week.

I don't know why no one just uses a moth that uses Alpha strike, Moth balls and Cocoon strike. Moth balls hits him 5 times.

I go:

moth balls
cocoon strike
mothballs
Alpha strike
Mothballs
Alpha strike

and its done

Gráinne

wrote on 2021-11-06 02:13:33

Each mothballs strike has a 50% chance of missing, so two rounds of mothballs should result in a total of 5 hits on average, so that may not be as reliable as using something like Flock, which guarantees three hits per round.

idyaar wrote on 2021-11-06 02:58:28

every time I've done this fight I do it with one moth. Maybe I have to throw another moth balls at the end, but it has always worked for me. Also, Unbreakable attacks are weak vs the moth (flying) (edited)

Fair enough. It works for you. Great! I also use strats I made up myself on some battles. amd on the simple single-pet battles like this one, there are many, many ways to do it.

If you really think this battle can benefit from yet another strat - I see there are 29 here already - you should register an account here and add your strat to the page. It's not hard.

The only thing I'd suggest is adding a standby to your script in case of a stun, and a change(next) in case the Direbeak dies, so it would look like this:

ability(decoy:334) [round=1]
change(#2) [round=2]
change(#3) [round=3]
standby [self.aura(Stunned:927).exists]
ability(#3) [ enemy.aura(Broken Shell:2111).exists ]
ability(#2)
ability(#1)
change(next)

Also, instead of ability #3, I'd specify that it's Predatory Strike. That way if the MPD has to come back in it just goes straight into attacking, instead of using Decoy. That would look like this:

ability(decoy:334) [round=1]
change(#2) [round=2]
change(#3) [round=3]
standby [self.aura(Stunned:927).exists]
ability(Predatory Strike:518) [ enemy.aura(Broken Shell:2111).exists ]
ability(#2)
ability(#1)
change(next)

It worked on first try, it doesn't give as much experience as the previous expansions' pet trainers/pet WQs but glad to have a strategy for next time :)

Updated the script to remove the leveling pet and adjust for the stun possibility. (Random pet is still in the second slot with this script).

ability(decoy:334) [round=1]
change(#3) [round=2]
standby [self.aura(Stunned:927).exists]
ability(#3) [ enemy.aura(Broken Shell:2111).exists ]
ability(#2)
ability(#1)

The TD Script does not have a standby (or pass) when direbeak gets stunned. Also, I have had a few times when I need to bring in MPD for the killing blow, so I added a swap and thunderbolt.

ability(decoy:334) [round=1]
change(#2) [round=2]
change(#3) [round=3]
ability(#2) [self(#1).active]
ability(#3) [ enemy.aura(Broken Shell:2111).exists ]
ability(#2)
ability(#1)
change(#1) [self(#3).dead]
standby

Maybe something has changed recently but I had no luck with these pets here - he just kept casting his shield :( - switched to moths as per a tip on wowhead using mothballs ability and it was incredibly easy: next time I will use a level pet with moths

He does not have a move to cast his shield again. Note that each use of Falcosaur Swarm will only remove one layer of shield despite hitting 3 times.

Low XP for leveling in my opinion; gained only 396 XP with Safari Hat worn. But a solid strat nonetheless.

Klide wrote on 2018-12-26 16:23:50

Terky/Squirky/Corrupted/Ancient Nest Guardian. Terky 0/0/2 Stampede talent until dead. Squirky 0/0/2 Bubble talent followed by 0/2/0 Stampede talent. If Terky doesn't kill then use Corrupted/Ancient Nest Guardian 0/1/0 Extra Plating talent into 0/0/2 Wind-up talent.

I found that IronSkin on cool down kept the Direbeak alive long enough to get to the point where he could cast Predatory Strike - even if he gets stunned twice.

almost all the strategies if the worst circumstances are given fail, I would tell you to do the duel again, to see if there is more luck

RameyMJ. wrote on 2018-11-11 21:54:06

Decoy is spelled wrong in the TDScript for English speakers. Thunderbolt (ability 2) is cast instead.

(OP) Akyro

wrote on 2018-11-13 09:22:39

it's okay, I've already changed it

Silvur wrote on 2018-11-11 14:31:50

My direbeak got stunned, then died on the pass so wasn't able to cast Predatory Strike. However, I was still able to succeed with a Thunderbolt from the mechanical. So the strat still works but you may want to add that possibility to your instructions.

If you’re stupid like me: After each Falcosaur Swarm check the tooltip on Chitara’s buff/debuff icon, to see the current state of its shell.
